Catboat Coffee Co. is a family-owned coffee shop and Lebanese restaurant that began on Martha's Vineyard.
We serve specialty coffee and authentic Lebanese food, made fresh daily by our crew.
We believe food brings people together. You’ll find us here every day, year-round, doing exactly that.
Our Story
It’s all hands on deck at Catboat Coffee Co.
We’re five family members who came to Martha’s Vineyard separately and ended up building something together. Morgen was arranging grazing boxes. Naji was running Lebanese food pop-ups. When they realized both ventures needed a real kitchen, the idea for Catboat Coffee Co. was born — a place that combines everything the family loves under one roof.
Everyone brings something unique to the boat. You’ll usually find Morgen’s husband Alex behind the counter when you walk in. You might see Naji’s wife Meredith checking on our food scrap recyclers. And of course, our intrepid captain, Chef Naji, is in the kitchen, bringing his passion for community-rooted food to every menu item. And on a good day, maybe someone’s keeping an eye on Andrew sailing Crepidula around Edgartown harbor.
Our Mission
Healthy food, sustainable sourcing, waste reduction, and community partnerships.
At Catboat Coffee Co., it all starts with our ingredients. Coffee beans sourced from trusted roasting partners. Eggs collected from a local farm (we love you North Tabor!). Parsley purchased from a food-equity non-profit (we love you Island Grown Initiative!). Menu items that never use seed oils or dare to touch a deep fryer.
We have a deep commitment to providing offerings that are good for you, and reduce our environmental impact. We use food recyclers in our kitchen that turn our scraps into chicken feed (the same feathered friends that provide us with our eggs!). We’re constantly reevaluating our packaging and using compostable materials. And since day one we’ve been proud to offer a discount when you bring your own mug. It’s these small but mighty choices that have a ripple effect on our community.
Local Vendors
The Catboat Coffee Co. team is committed to responsibly sourced products that honor the people, animals, and environment involved in their production. Our menu features island-grown produce and artisanal products from throughout New England.
Sustainable Initiatives
We believe that a rising tide lifts all boats. The idea that increased sustainability initiatives will benefit all participants. This carries through in our sustainability efforts, such as composting and food recyclers in our shop, environmentally-friendly packaging, waste management education, and responsible sourcing practices.
Our Love of Catboats
Our family, like Martha’s Vineyard, has its own history with this iconic New England sailboat.
According to island shipwrights, catboats are unique to coastal Massachusetts and Long Island. With their shallow draft and their sturdy shape, they could traverse the shoal bays and sounds. They were perfect for inshore fishing, but as the Cape and Islands became a tourist destination, the catboat sailors would stop fishing in the summer and use them for hosting picnics and cocktail parties.
Our family has two catboats: a 17’ Menger named “Crepidula” (hull #1 of its kind!) and a Beetle Cat named “Curd”. Look for us sailing around Edgartown harbor, and please say hello! In the Vineyard Haven shop, you’ll see the mast, boom, and gaff of “Catama”, the Beetle Cat our mom grew up sailing. We truly love catboats!
We’re proud to offer goods that are gorgeous and reliable, just like catboats themselves.
